PwrdBy Chris Brereton tagged with Hero Goody Necklace

The Goody Awards tagged PwrdBy Founder Chris Brereton with a Hero Goody Necklace today for being a social good thought leader. Along with being an active part of the social enterprise community in Los Angeles that has a growing number of startups for profit and for good, Chris builds companies for good.

As a former rockstar (Avarice) and Co-Founder of Picture Healing that donated money to charity if you posted a photo using their app, Chris is now taking those lessons learned to shift to a bigger gear. PwrdBy builds apps for nonprofits, starting with Habitat for Humanity. PwrdBy also worked with Music Saves Lives and Fender Music Foundation to build apps, and this is only the beginning.

The PwrdBy app for Habitat for Humanity is a mission-aligned mobile app platform specifically designed for Habitat for Humanity affiliates. It connects with supporters, recruits and manages volunteers, collects contributions, increases efficiencies, saves money, processes donations and so much more!

Check out the PwrdBy Blog for cool updates on the social change space. For example, their recent blog, How Mobile Technology is Refocusing Philanthropy, shares this interesting tech shift for non-profits. Based on PwrdBy interviews, Non-profit CIOs and other professionals have a general belief that the technology gap between nonprofits and for-profit has been decreasing the past five years.

We’re really excited for Chris, and he is our hero for so many reasons. Not only is he building cool apps, he’s frequently on social good panels with the Goody Awards, including Digital Hollywood, Social Media Club LA, and Silicon Beach Fest.

And Chris always makes time to help other members of the social change community. He’s all about putting good people together. Chris co-hosted Social Enterprise LA mixers, and recently started happy hours for B Corps (for profit and for good) in Los Angeles.

Chris is a crazy passionate, gregarious and an outspoken kind of guy – who is changing the world! Please join us in Hero Goody cheers for Chris Brereton and follow @PwrdBy and @RootChris. And if you want to tag your hero with a Hero Goody, here’s how you can do it https://goodyawards.com/taggood
