Anderson Hernanes (love.fútbol spokesperson, Brazil National Football Team player and professional soccer player for Italy’s Inter Milan) was honored at a World Cup Kickoff Los Angeles party with a Golden Goody Award (our top humanitarian award) by the Goody Awards. Congratulations were sent virtually via video from nonprofits and social enterprises to Hernanes. love.fútbol is a US and Brazil-based charity who partners with underserved communities to build soccer fields that transform lives.
Along with inspiring youth globally, promoting this great cause, and rallying his Brazil National Football teammates to support love.fútbol, Hernanes raised $32,328 (plus matched the first $25,000) for a total of over $57,000 for love.fútbol for a chance to win a trip to the 2014 World Cup Brazil and meet Hernanes and his friends.
For this fundraising campaign on Prizeo, Hernanes shared, “I have a dream that every kid that grows up in Brazil has a safe place to play the beautiful game. That’s why I’m here on Prizeo to help raise money for an incredible charity called love.fútbol.”
Because Hernanes had a World Cup game the next day, virtual congratulations were sent via video at this Sports and Social Change World Cup Kickoff event in Los Angeles by US-based nonprofits and social enterprises in English, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.
David Joseph, America Scores LA Executive Director gave this shout out, “Congratulations Hernanes on raising $32,000, that’s amazing, giving back in that fashion. Good luck in Brazil. I’m American, but you can see I’m rooting for Brazil with my sons. We hope you are fantastic on the pitch and have a wonderful World Cup. And congratulations again on this award.”
Video shout outs also include Eric Hubbard (Jovenes and Street Soccer USA), Rumi Kaibara (Special Olympics International), Brian Szcerbinski (Special Olympics Southern California), David Joseph (America Scores LA), Corey Williams (US Soccer Foundation), Aaron Kaufman (America Scores LA and Sony Playstation), Eva and Marco from Italy (where Hernanes plays for Inter Milan).
