Dane Cook and 50+ Comedians receive Hero Goody necklace at Comedy Gives Back

Over 50 top comedians (Dane Cook, Zach Galifiniakis, Awkward Kids, Greg Behrendt and more) and volunteers who donated their time to Comedy Gives Back’s 24 hours of Comedy for Malaria No More received Hero Goody necklaces as a thank you on Nov 6, 2013. This Goody Awards “tag good” product represents being a global citizen inspiring positive change, and these comedians gave it their all to stop malaria and make us laugh.

Big congrats to the Comedy Gives Back team (Amber J Lawson, Zoe Friedman, Jodi Lieberman) who really know how to put together a global comedy event that included live stream and live shows. The social reach was 21+ million, and you can now watch the 5 live shows via VOD on Dailymotion http://dailymotion.com/comedygivesback. The Goody Awards and Comedy Gives Back also honored Improv Founder Budd Friedman with a Golden Goody Award (lifetime achievement award) for 50 years of Comedy and Charity. These global Hero Goodys were shipped to comedians performing in London, New York City, and Sydney, and hand-delivered in Los Angeles at the What’s Trending Studio hub during the day and Hollywood Improv at night.

When asked about how to spell his last name, Greg Behrendt shared, “I’m changing my last name to sweater.”

Zach Galifiankis (“Hangover”) survived being in the “hot seat” during his What’s Trending Studio interview with Comedy Bang Bang (it honestly felt like it was over 100 degrees with the lights), and still found the energy to put on the Hero Goody Necklace after the show. Thank you Zach!

Dane Cook was so grateful at the Hollywood Improv that we spaced and forgot to take a picture of him with the necklace!

Ben Gleib (Chelsea Lately) was the funniest host for the Hollywood Improv show at 10pm when he said that he would make-out with anyone who did not win the Nokia Lumia phone that he auctioned off to raise funds for Malaria No More. We were fortunate to get a photo of Ben Gleib, Michael Yo and Iliza Shlesinger with their Hero Goody necklaces thanks to Comedy Gives Back Jodi Lieberman putting us all together.

In our humble opinion, Neal Brennan delivered the joke of the day by saying something like this, “Guys don’t care what women wear. If they want to stay home for 4 weeks, have sex and watch Breaking Bad, a guy’s happy.”
