Bob Somerhalder honored with Hero Goody necklace by ISF Fan

ISF Fan Kelly Mayer asked us to ship a Hero Goody necklace to Bob Somerhalder (brother of Ian Somerhalder from Vampire Diaries) and sent us this heartwarming write-up about why he is her hero. Since it’s Thanksgiving and this request came from a member of the ISF (Ian Somerhalder Foundation) Family, we wanted to share this story over the holiday weekend that celebrates family.

Bob Somerhalder and his business, Built of Barnwood, have done such amazing things in the almost 2 years since they have been in business. He not only hand makes every item, Bob and his wife Dena along with their 2 kids also help and make sure all the orders get out as soon as possible. It’s a small family business and they work night and day to provide their customers/fans with quality, re-purposed products.

Their motto “Never Never Give up” has truly saved my life. They have inspired and empowered me to do something and make a change and never give up on my dreams. Just recently, I had the honor of meeting Bob, Dena and Ian at EyeCon in Georgia. It was a dream come true for me to just hug them and thank them in person for never giving up hope on their dreams and share just how much they have been an inspiration in my life.

While I was down there I found out some horrible news from my doctors and the first person to give me a hug while I cried…was Bob Somerhalder. He took the time to talk to me and make me feel better. This magic moment alone keeps me smiling.

Having my pictures with Bob and Ian keep me believing in hope and never giving up. Trying to repay them for their kindness they show to everyone they meet, I am offering to make anyone who donates to Ian’s B-day wish (donate $35 to ISF by Dec 8, 2013) or purchases anything from Built of Barnwood a knitted afghan blanket as a personal thank you from me to everyone who supports this family.

It doesn’t stop at the boys either, their mom and dad are also amazing people! I wish I had all the money in the world to repay Bob and Ian for everything they do, not just for the animals, the environment, but for changing my life and giving me hope when I didn’t have any left. They opened my eyes. Until the last breathe I take, I will do everything I can to support them any way I can and to always remember to Never Never Give UP! Bob deserves so much more than this Hero Goody necklace, but it’s a start and a way for me to thank him for his hard work him and his family do every day!
