Goody Awards announces Force for Good Campaign

To highlight everyday heroes making an impact, the Goody Awards for social good launches a Force for Good Campaign (July 15-Aug 15, 2013.) This campaign will include a Golden Goody Award (lifetime achievement award for Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, Sir Nicholas Winton), Tag Good Challenge at Comic-Con International, Force for Good Media, and good social media buzz highlighting heroes.

1. Golden Goody Award – Sir Nicholas Winton, known as “Britain’s Schindler,” is being honored with the Golden Goody Award (lifetime achievement award) for rescuing 669 Czech and Slovak children before the start of World War II. Sir Nicholas Winton, now 104 years old, lives in London, England and will be presented this special award virtually in conjunction with the award-winning documentary release of “Nicky’s Family” on Friday July 19th in NYC, Los Angeles and VOD everywhere.

2. Force for Good Media  – To highlight positive forces for good, the Goody Awards will post videos and photos of everyday heroes and responses to the Golden Goody Award. Several inspirational videos will be be posted on the Goody Awards YouTube Channel with one of Sir Nicholas Winton’s child survivors, Dave Lux, who is now a speaker at the Museum of Tolerance Los Angeles.

3. Tag Good Challenge at Comic Con 2013 (July 18-21) – In the midst of 130,000 fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, the Goody Awards will also challenge fans dressed as superheroes to tag their every day heroes on Twitter using hashtags #taggood and #herogoody. While supplies last, fans interviewed at Comic-Con will receive branded #GoodyAwards sunglasses (made with recycled plastic). Whomever tags the most good during the month-long campaign on Twitter, will receive the first branded Goody Awards #HeroGoody charm.

4. Good Social Media Buzz – Because the mission of the Goody Awards is to inspire change by recognizing good in the world, social media will play a key role in this Force for Good campaign. The Goody Awards will post everyday hero photos and videos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to highlight people doing good, and encourages everyone to tweet Goody Awards shout-outs @username with #taggood and #herogoody. If you know of anyone who is a “Force for Good,” we encourage you to share their photos on social media with #taggood.

Sir Nicholas Winton has inspired the 6,000 people in his extended “Nicky’s Family” to do good in the world. In this documentary film about his Czech Kindertransport, Sir Nicholas emphasizes, “There is a difference between passive goodness and active goodness, which is, in my opinion, the giving of one’s time and energy in the alleviation of pain and suffering. It entails going out, finding and helping those in suffering and danger, and not merely in leading an exemplary life, in a purely passive way of doing no wrong.” We encourage everyone to take positive action, and tag good @GoodyAwards .
